Chapter Seven

A few hours later, after unpacking the car and eating a quick lunch, Malcolm and Jacob lay on the white sands of the beach. Sunlight sparkled on the crystal blue water of the Pacific Ocean, creating brilliant twinkles of light amidst the frothy waves.

Malcolm absently sifted grains of soft sand through his fingers as he watched a couple of children building sand castles in the moist sand several feet in front of them. The kids’ parents were nearby, Mom reading a book and Dad kneeling next to a small toddler, showing him seashells and fragments of driftwood. The domestic scene reminded him vividly of the weekends he and Penny had spent here when Liam was a toddler and Peter a teenager. He had played with them in the sand and waves, teaching them to swim, and eventually to surf.

Malcolm switched his gaze from watching the people frolicking in those waves to check on Jacob, who was asleep in a reclining lounger in the sand at his left. Though a large striped beach umbrella shaded the creamy skin of his lover’s body, Malcolm worried about him getting burnt. It was perfectly obvious from the smooth pallor of his skin that he spent little to no time outside in the bright California sunshine.

Fascinated, Malcolm studied the expanse of hairless flesh on display. The long column of white throat ended in a shallow hollow that begged for his tongue and lips, then flared across to delicate collarbones and finely drawn muscles. He traced his gaze down the tautly outlined chest muscles to his tight abdomen, where Jacob’s black board shorts began. The indent of his belly button called to Malcolm, teasing him with possibilities. He wanted to mark that perfect flesh with pink love bites the color of Jacob’s nipples for the entire world to see, but he knew he couldn’t, not yet. He remembered how that graceful body had looked arched across the arm of the sofa in his office, bedewed with thick streams of cooling cum, mingling in thin lines of possession . Breathing heavily, as though he had just run up the sand from the waves, he jerked his gaze back to the people around them. He found himself glaring at a golden-skinned muscular young man of about Jacob’s age who seemed to be on the verge of approaching them. A startled look passed over the man’s face before he nodded and turned away. Malcolm glared after the younger man, feeling a growing ire as he became aware of just how many times this afternoon he’d discouraged young bronzed gods and, casting a disapproving gaze at a couple of neon bikini-clad teenagers on a blanket nearby, goddesses in training, from poaching on his preserves.
